Jaipur holds 'Meet the Poet' event to provide healing touch of Alka Tyagi's poetry
The Rajasthan Adult Education Society, Jaipur, is hosting the event "Meet the Poet' (Kavi Se Miliye) this evening in their auditorium wherein the noted poetess Alka Tyagi, Associate Professor in English at Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi, will be enthral audience with her poetry recitation.
She has already made a mark with her
spoken word art recitational style and pleasing persona. Along with being a
poet, writer and academic, Tyagi is a yoga exponent too who has been associated
with
Bihar School of Yoga. Educated about and trained in yoga tradition, she
has been organising well-received yoga events in
India and abroad.
Along with editing some books, She has
authored titles such as Healing Tales; Andal and Akka Mahadevi: Feminity to
Divinity; Sun Ri Sakhi; Amaltas; "Ka- Kala, Sampada evam Vaichariki",
etc., in Hindi. She has also done a poetry collection called "Whispers at
the Ganga Ghat" and video of her recitations have also been produced.
The book of English poems
"Whispers at the Ganga Ghat" has 62 poems with sections on
Speech, Whispers and Silence which connect to you with the nature, universe and
divinity. Here is the taste of a part of her verses: Saffron coloured evening /
Descending peace / Lights up the flowers / Kept on the windowsill / And makes
me one /With the Sun!
It is said that her poetry
has 'an element of healing' but the taste of the pudding lies in eating
it. It has been felt by many that her poetry has therapeutic value.
